Gallery Assistant


McEvoy Foundation for the Arts (MFA) presents exhibitions and public programs that engage, expand, and challenge themes within the McEvoy Family Collection.


McEvoy Foundation for the Arts seeks part-time gallery assistants. Reporting to the events and operations manager, the gallery assistant oversees the exhibition space during gallery hours, provides support for programs and events, and ensures an exceptional experience for all visitors.  Duties include greeting and assisting visitors, guiding tours, maintaining the professional presentation of exhibitions, taking attendance, ensuring the safety and security of the artwork, setting up and breaking down events, facilitating ticket and merchandise sales, and providing support to departments when the schedule permits.


The position requires excellent verbal and written communication skills and reliable and timely participation. Candidates must have strong customer service/interpersonal skills and possess sensitivity to a range of social, economic, and cultural perspectives, histories, and experiences. Experience in an office, gallery, theater, and/or museum setting is important. Occasional light lifting of packages and furniture is required.


Up to three shifts available, 10-20 hours per week.  Working hours are Tuesday through Saturday, from 10 am to 6 pm, with occasional evening hours for events.


These are temporary, part-time, non-exempt positions. Hourly rate from $16-$18/hour, commensurate with experience.
